Help

How to analyse a file, read a report, and get support.

Analyse a file

  1. Open Analyze.
  2. Choose a file with the Select target button, or drop one onto the upload area. Both routes do the same thing — you never need to drag anything.
  3. Turn the analysis options you want on or off.
  4. Select Start analysis. Progress is announced as it changes.

Read a report

Each report opens with a threat level. The threat level is always written out as a word — Critical, High, Medium, Low or Safe — and repeated as a segmented bar, so it stays readable in greyscale print and without colour perception.

Find past reports under Reports. Deleting a report asks you to confirm first, and cannot be undone.

Email a report to yourself

On the API scans page, Download & email sends the report to your registered address. Three files arrive:

  • a PDF of the full report;
  • a CSAF 2.1 document (.json) carrying the same findings in machine-readable form, for import into a vulnerability or incident-management tool;
  • CHECKSUMS.txt, so you can confirm the other two arrived intact.

Save the attachments to one folder and run shasum -a 256 -c CHECKSUMS.txt. Each file should report OK. The file itself explains how to check the other four algorithms. These checksums detect damage in transit; they are not a signature.

If sending fails, the reason is shown on the page rather than only announced, so you can read it and try again.

Change your password

  1. Open the menu under your user name and select Change password.
  2. Enter your current password, then the new one twice.
  3. Open the confirmation link we email you. The change only takes effect once that link is opened, so a mistyped password cannot lock you out.
  4. Sign in again with the new password.

A password must be between 12 and 128 characters and contain an upper-case letter, a lower-case letter and a number. The confirmation link can be used once, and expires.

Ask about a report

The AI assistant answers questions about a scan you have already run — what a finding means, or whether it needs action. It reads only the report you are asking about. If the assistant is unavailable, the page says so; the report itself is unaffected.

Keyboard operation

Every action in this application can be performed from the keyboard.

Keyboard shortcuts available on every page
Key Action
Tab Move to the next control. The first stop on every page is Skip to main content.
Shift + Tab Move to the previous control.
Enter Activate a link or button.
Space Activate a button, or tick a checkbox.
Esc Close an open menu or dialog and return focus to what opened it.

There are no single-character shortcuts in this application, so nothing fires unexpectedly while you type.

Display preferences

The Dark theme button in the navigation bar switches between light and dark, and your choice is remembered. If you have not chosen, the application follows your operating system setting. If your system asks for reduced motion, all animation is switched off.

The Language menu in the navigation bar switches between English, German, French, Spanish and Italian. Each language is listed in its own language. Your choice is remembered, so you only make it once, and the language stays in the address so a page can be shared in the language it was read in.

If something does not work, or you need content in a different format, email support@ndaal.eu. Tell us the page, the assistive technology you were using, and what happened — it makes the problem far quicker to reproduce.
